The MCU318 was designed to allow additional capabilities to be added through the addition of small daughter circuit boards which are fitted into sockets on the main circuit card. The Ethernet module provides a 100Base-T (IEEE 802.3u ) Ethernet port. The module also contains a processor able to allow industry standard protocols (e.e. DNP3, Modbus) to be used.
